Crocs...
I know I've talked about my unfortunate love of Crocs before...
Yes... it's true.
I always hated the shoes, thought everyone looked ridiculous wearing them, unless they were really old, or little kids... And then, one day 4 years ago, it happened:
I was about to go outside barefoot and a pair of Croc flip-flops were by the backdoor. So, I slipped them on and.... BOOM! They were the most comfortable flip-flops I had ever had on my feet. It was like walking on two perfect orthapedic clouds made just for me... and I unfortunately fell in love.
But those were flip-flops, I told myself, not the Croc-y Crocs that you see people wearing in ridiculous colors that I would NEVER wear. Little did I know, that the flip-flops were the gateway drug of Crocs... after about a year I bought a pair of brown real Croc-y Crocs... I told myself and other people that they were my "studio shoes"... I mean, what artist doesn't need a good pair of studio shoes??? Right?! Riiiiiight...
Having "studio shoes" was just a slippery slope to wearing them all of the time... They became the easy shoe to slip on whenever I had to go anywhere... I became one of THOSE Croc wearing people... and I didn't even care, because my feet were so happy... after a lifetime of uncomfortable cute shoes, my feet were SO happy.
I wish I could say that my addiction to Crocs stopped there... but that would be a lie. I even went to a Croc outlet store and bought Croc Maryjanes... I justified this purchase to myself and thought, if I was going to wear Crocs everyday, it'd be better if they didn't look so Croc-ish...
I wore both pair all through out my pregnancy, and post baby too... and then one day I decided, it was time to step up the wardrobe. So, I sold the Mary Janes at a garage sale (lucky bitch), and I decided to keep the "studio shoes" for gardening... (yeah right)...
This is where divine intervention must have taken place, and now those shoes have magically dissappeared... gone forever... Which is probably for the best... I know it is.
But the whole point of this LONG Croc story is, I decided to buy some Crocs for my little guy. Little kids look so cute in them and they are so easy to put on... it doesn't matter if they get wet... ya know...
So finally, they arrive in the mail, and I go to put them on his feet and he screams and cries in horror!
MY BABY HATES CROCS!!! What??? I'm so confused... they are so comfortable, they are so easy... and yet he cries and tugs at them and wants to get them off as fast as he can...
My kid is so much cooler than I'll ever be...

So funny! Kids put everything in perspective!
When I house sat for my mother a while back she had a pair of Crocs that I wore around the house and down in the basement. I just didn't "get" it why she loved them so much... I suppose everyone is different. I haven't found a pair that meets my style yet or I may be willing to try them out again.
I wear crocs for when I'm grooming dogs so if they get wet it's ok. Plus, they're really comfortable when you're on your feet for a long time. Most of the time though, I'm strictly a boots & flats girl, Lol!
what a sweet little story, I have not been converted and am not sure if I want to be??? but I must say your story has made me want to go out and perhaps try on a pair... just to see ofcourse!!!
I tried pairs of fake Crocs and real ones but it wasnt until I finally found the women's style that I found a great pair. They are my go-to shoes for when I fly cause I can wear socks with them and they slip on/off easily so they are great for the security check point and dont bug me on long flights. I must confess though that I cheat on my real Crocs with a pair of Skechers Croc-type shoes that are the only shoes I can stand to wear barefoot...
I used to be a Croc-hater, too. I didn't even let my two kiddos wear any because I thought they were so ridiculous. It wasn't until we took a family trip to Disneyworld that I allowed them to own a pair...every item of clothing I packed for my kids was Disney (even their undies) so it made since that they should wear Disney Crocs, too. Of course, they are the perfect shoe for walking all over Mickey's place simply for their comfort factor, I soon learned. I now have an LSU pair of "regular" Crocs and am on my second pair of flip flops and I love them!
Give your son time...maybe it's the little bumpy parts on the inside of the shoe that he doesn't like....for now...
I still have one pair of crocs that I wear when I have blisters on my feet from other shoes. Speaking of my crocs just reminded me that I need to put some new bows on them.
I've always been a crocs hater, though I have to say that when you try them on, they're really comfy.. I think I could buy a pair just to wear hidden in my home, cause I really don't like seeing them on my feet..
But they look lovely on my almost 3 years old niece, and she seems to like them.. Maybe cause her mother/my sister always dresses her like a kind of hobo.. Whatever.. Your Sharky will soon wear them without troubles, he just has to get in habit!! And you can still be "saved" from being less stylish then your kid.. Just if you promise you're gonna wear 'em just home/garden/studio!
It should be illegal to wear crocs in public, unless you're at the beach!
Aww. How ironic! Kids look tres adorbz in Crocs! I hate those shoes too, btw. Although I used to have their Maryjanes and wore them till they died. I live in a tropical country with a schizophrenic weather, so it's perfect in case it pours in the middle of a sunny day. I hate that they're so comfortable! I demand that cute shoes make our feet happy too.
But..but...children HATE wearing shoes. Doesn't matter what kind. They must have naked little feet at all times. Its how they grow over night. Naked feet are key.
